O⬝PARK2 Project Background

After the completion of the Organic Resources Recovery Centre Phase 2, it will become the largest food waste recycling centre in Hong Kong, and it will also become the first green project in China to achieve carbon neutrality during the construction period. The O⬝PARK2 project started construction in 2019 and is expected to commence operation in 2024. After being put into operation, it can process 300 tonnes of kitchen waste daily to generate heat and electricity, and the electricity it exports is equivalent to the power consumption by some 5,000 households. The project is designed with the “BEAM Plus v1.2” platinum level of the Hong Kong Green Building Council BEAM Plus Assessment, it adopts the integrated design process (IDP) design and construction, promotes green building materials and renewable energy, and develops BIM 7D, MiC, DfMA (Design for manufacture and Assembly), 3D printing, BIPV, CCUS (carbon capture utilization and storage technology) and other intelligent construction technologies, and apply digital management systems such as C-SMART intelligent site management platform and “carbon neutral cloud platform” to improve carbon accounting accuracy and efficiency. In the future, CSCI will also explore the development of carbon assets during the operation period to enhance the development of the Hong Kong carbon trading market and the transformation of the low-carbon economy in the Greater Bay Area.
